C. area, and $112,000 - $122,000 if outside a commutable distance The Every Life Foundation for Rare Diseases ( Every Life) is seeking a Vice President of Individual Giving to join its team.
The Every Life Foundation for Rare Diseases is a science-based nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization dedicated to bringing treatments to over 30 million Americans with rare diseases.
The Foundation works with patient advocates, lawmakers, industry, academic scientists, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH) to advance the equitable development of and access to lifesaving diagnoses, treatments, and cures.
The Vice President of Individual Giving is responsible for creating, managing, and executing the organization’s development strategy for individual giving with the special emphasis on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of relationship with major donors.
Working closely with the CEO, senior management, the Board of Directors, and Every Life staff, the Vice President of Individual Giving provides leadership to meet revenue objectives and expand support of the organization while ensuring ongoing stewardship of donors.
This position reports to the CEO and is a member of Every Life’s senior leadership team.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities Develops and executes increase long-term growth strategies of Foundation revenue, focusing on individual giving of high-net-worth donors; Provides leadership of individual giving and other revenue sources outside of corporate scope; Creates meaningful and impactful events (including fundraising salons) to increase awareness, build community relations, increase revenue, raise donor loyalty, and acquire new supporters; Creates and executes strategic fundraising planning and ensures strategies are accomplished effectively; Collaborates with Every Life team members who are responsible for specific programming to develop compelling solicitations.
Works as an effective partner with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other leaders to support their fundraising and outreach efforts, including identification and cultivation of major donors in their networks; Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to engage and communicate with a constituency of donors and prospects and promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications as part of Every Life’s major gifts program; Leads the staff in developing and implementing creative cultivation and stewardship strategies, which may include meetings, program events, impact experiences, cultivation events, conference calls, donor testimonials and profiles, and written updates; Builds and maintains stakeholder relationships, including soliciting and closing major gifts; Leads and expands prospecting activities to identify and research prospects for new sponsors and donors; Implements and guides direction for system processes for the Development team, in conjunction with Vice President of Corporate Giving; Maintains donor records through regular upkeep of our donor database.
Develops and maintain an in-depth understanding of Every Life’s programs in order to articulate the overall vision and strategic direction to prospective and current donors.
Oversees the fundraising for individual giving for all programming and special projects; and Other duties as assigned.
Occasional travel, weekend, and evening work may be required.
Qualifications The Vice President of Individual Giving will have: Bachelor’s degree, with at least seven years of related experience; Successful record of fundraising, planned giving and/or high-net-worth major giving, including identifying and engaging new funding opportunities; The ability to build/foster relationships by reinforcing trust and respect, and demonstrating high standards of tact and diplomacy; Demonstrated leadership and management experience; Competencies in technology such as Salesforce or Hub Spot, or willingness to quickly learn.
More Information This is a full-time, direct-hire position.
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, ranging from $122,000 – $132,000 if located in the Washington, D.
C. area, and $112,000 – $122,000 if outside a commutable distance.
