Your future role
The IT System &Network Designer will join the SMO TMS Sys &NTW Team that is part of the SMALL PROJECT Business Unit in the Project Management Wayside Department.
The IT System &Network Designer will be responsible for the Design of IT environment and communication system in Italian TMS projects assigned to SMO TMS.
In the frame of the SMO TMS projects, the IT System and communication are the key component of the system). The IT Sys &NTW relies on COTS equipment (like HPE, Cisco, etc. )

The IT System &Network Designer will be in charge of:
• Defining IT Sys &NTW System Requirements ( Functional, Non Functional, Interfaces)
• Develop system documents, specifications and other technical documents. For example, definition of the Architecture, Bill of material, IP Plan, etc. .
• Ensure that the design of the backbone and/or IP Network systems technically fulfils the defined needs and enhancements (change requests).
• Configure the IT SYS &NTW devices (servers, clients, IP switches, IP routers, Firewalls and other devices).
• Ensure technical consistency and alignment with Project Engineering teams throughout the development.
• Provides technical support to T C (tests on field). In particular, the troubleshooting of the issues detected in lab and on field.
• Interact with other project stake-holders, both internal ( Project Engineering Manager, System Engineers) both external ( Customer, Supplier).
• Contribute to Design Technical review.
• Applying the standard Design methods &tools, configuration &change management processes in accordance to Alstom standards.

• Degree in IT disciplines: Telecommunication Engineering, Computer or Information Science, Electronic Engineering or related field

• Very good communication skills (in Italian and English) including the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences

Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:
• Familiar with LA Ns, WA Ns, routers, firewalls and TCP/IP, Hyper-V, V Mware, virtualization environment
• Cybersecurity principles
• Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux
• Software: Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Visio
• Previous experience on IT system and/or network engineering is preferred
• Cisco CCNA is preferred
• Managing Firewalls ( Cisco, Fortinet) are preferred
• Experience with common network troubleshooting tools ( Wireshark, HTTP Watch, etc. ) are preferred
• Setup configuration and troubleshooting of clustered virtualization environment ( Hyper-V and V Mware) are preferred
• Setup configuration and troubleshooting of cabled L2/L3 Networks of Cisco / HP / Wester Mo switches are preferred
