YOUR TEAM
The Research Line is led by Dr. Lucia Beccai. You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group and collaborate with the team to carry out common research within outstanding facilities.
For this post, the research aim is to design, fabricate and test innovative fully integrated soft mechanical sensing solutions by 3D printing for soft robotics.
Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
•
Design and fabrication of soft mesoscale active structures by 3D printing embedding multiple materials with different properties (e. g. mechanical, electrical, optical, etc. ) for 3D mechanical soft sensing
•
Investigation of innovative materials with custom properties (electrical, optical, mechanical), compatible with 3D printing processes
•
Characterization of 3D printed soft mechanical sensors
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
•
Ph. D. in material science, micro/nanotechnology, electrical engineering, and similar disciplines
•
At least 2-yr experience in:
Fabrication processes based on Digital Light Processing (DLP) printing, multimaterial printing, casting/deposition of soft materials
Development and characterization of flexible and stretchable smart materials in general and for 3D printing
Coaching PhD students
•
Strong skills on:
Design and testing of soft mechanical (force, vibration, shear etc. ) sensors
Mechanical design (*. stl files)
•
An excellent publication record
•
The ability to properly report, organize and publish research data
•
Excellent communication skills
•
Excellent command in spoken and written English
•
Experience on preparing project proposals
