Azienda: Franke Peschiera del Garda
Franke plans to setup a digitalization platform in major plants on an openshift containerized factory edge solution architecture: Digital production system (DPS):
Manufacturing Operation Management (MOM) : Smart BI, Digital twin of production; Connected processes.
We are looking for a Junior Digitalization Engineer (JDE) for our Franke Center of Competence ( CoC) that manages and supports DPS in daily operation locally with respect to infrastructure, applications & maintenance. The JDE collaborates closely with local & global IT department, he/her possesses digitalization skills to effectively maintain, and support connected manufacturing processes, enables Franke production to achieve greater efficiency, agility, and competitiveness. He is well-equipped to deploy, manage, and support software in Open Shift environments effectively. He designs, implements, and maintains a reliable and efficient communication infrastructure to support manufacturing operations.
Use Cases : Infrastructure & production maintenance: manage status of different infrastructure layers, provide first level support (2024):
First entry point to local production teams to support in case of unidentified production issues
Identifies / solves issue (reset some fields in OPC UA etc) and addresses / follow-up issues with the right supplier(s) involve
Provide second level support (2025)
Applications : smartBI basics (2024) and smartBI advanced (2025): configure new dashboards on user’s request, add new data models & new data sources; Integration layer basics (2024). Plant Service Bus (PSB) advanced (2025): CI, CD: develop & deploy new flows, queues etc
Your tasks
• Key skills generic, (importance in this order sequence) : Problem- Solving, 1st level support local production team; Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including lean manufacturing principles, quality control, and production scheduling; ability to integrate diverse hardware and software components, including PL Cs, HM Is, MOM, and ERP systems, into the plant service bus architecture to enable seamless data exchange and interoperability; networking Understands networking concepts (TCP/IP, profinet, VLA Ns, routing) and networking technologies ( Ethernet, Wi- Fi); familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, MQTT, and Ethernet/IP is essential for configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing the machine & systems integration layer (plant service bus); excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including engineers, technicians, managers, and executives.
Nice to have skills (generic, importance in this order sequence) : understands data analytics concepts and tools to analyze and derive actionable insights from the vast amounts of data generated by sensors and devices connected to the integration layer (plant service bus), enabling data-driven decision-making and process optimization; familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e. g. , Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana) and the ability to instrument applications for monitoring and logging are crucial for ensuring the health and performance of applications running on Open Shift; familiar in implementing IoT solutions and sensor technologies to monitor equipment performance, track production metrics; Open Shift is built on top of Kubernetes, so you need a good understanding of Kubernetes concepts such as pods, deployments, services, namespaces; familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools (e. g. , Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD, Tekton) is important for setting up automated pipelines to build, test, and deploy applications to Open Shift clusters; familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services for hosting and managing data generated by connected manufacturing processes. Skills in cloud deployment, migration, and optimization enable organizations to leverage scalable and cost-effective computing resources for data storage, analytics, and application deployment; familiarity in Git version control is necessary for managing source code repositories, collaborating with team members, and integrating version control with CI/CD pipelines; knowledge of Java programming and build tools (e. g. , Maven, Gradle) for developing and packaging Java applications to run on Open Shift; writing automation scripts, custom controllers, and operators in Kubernetes/ Open Shift environments. Understanding Python scripting can be beneficial for extending and customizing Open Shift deployments
