Datalogic is offering an exciting opportunity within its Intellectual Property Department, ideal for a motivated and curious individual interested in exploring the world of innovation, patents, and technology strategy. As part of IP team, the selected candidate will be immersed in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment. The role involves working closely with engineering, R&D, and business units to support strategic IP-related activities that contribute to the protection and valorization of the company’s technological assets. The candidate will be based in the HQ in Lippo di Calderara di Reno (BO).
Role Mission
The role will support the Intellectual Property (IP) Department in various strategic and operational activities related to the protection, evaluation, and enhancement of the company’s intellectual assets. It offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment while working closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D and Business Units.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Clearance & New Product Development
• Analyze new products under development as well as competitors’ offerings through product documentation and product samples analysis.
• Evaluate competitors’ patent portfolios by specific patent search tools and methodologies.
• Collaborate with IP and Business teams to assess the impact of third-party patents on target products.
• Conduct data mining to identify relevant prior art or supporting evidence.
2. Invention Harvesting
• Interact with engineering teams and participate in product design reviews in order to understand technical features of products under development. Take part in brainstorming sessions on innovation and technology themes.
• Assist employees in drafting invention disclosures and provide guidance to enhance idea development.
• Identify potentially patentable inventions throughout the product design lifecycle and support inventors in documenting them.
3. Patent Prosecution & Exploitation
• Support inventors in identifying the core elements of their inventions.
• Work with IP and Business teams to evaluate the strategic value of internal patent portfolios.
Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Management Engineering, or equivalent.
• Languages: Italian and English - fluent written and verbal communication.
• Experience: Prior experience in Intellectual Property field is not strictly required, a strong interest in innovation, technology, and intellectual propert is essential.
