Job Description: The role is inserted in the Aircraft Management System organizational unit of Avionic Systems Development area.
The unit is responsible of the design, development and qualification/certification activities related to the main on-board computer of Leonardo Helicopters programs (both civil and military), specifically of the software application performing the vehicle, flight and mission management functions that will be hosted on the target computer.
Sub- System Engineers interface Avionic System Engineering functional area for all the aspects pertaining the integration of the computer and its application in the helicopter avionic system.
Other external areas interfaced include CPE offices, Flight Test Pilots and Engineers, Procurement and RMS departments.
Activities and responsibilities of the role include:- understanding the clients’ needs and expected outcome- collaborating with the development team to identify design solutions in line with expectations and with project guidelines (plans, standards, technical and schedule constraints, budget)- contributing and coordinating the activities necessary to develop and qualify the computer software application in all its development phases (requirements definition, architectural and detailed design, coding and integration, validation and verification, design reviews and qualification/certification audits)- interfacing and managing suppliers for activities' offload and for the computer platform procurement- coordinating and leading the development team- monitoring and managing the project in terms of schedule, costs and resources Requirements:- degree in a technical field (e. g.
Computer, Electronic, Automation or Telecommunication Engineering; Aerospace/ Aeronautical Engineering)- knowledge of Real Time Safety Critical Embedded SW development aspects- good knowledge of spoken and written English- strong problem solving capabilities and proactive customer satisfaction approach- team working and leading in a cross-functional and geographical team- project management skills- inclination to work in line with standards, rules and objectives- thorough understanding of the entire software development life-cycle- knowledge of aeronautical standards and guidelines for safety critical software and systems development (DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, MIL-ST Ds)- knowledge of civil and military certification/qualification regulations and processes- SW design and development methodologies (UML, Model Based development, Matlab/ Simulink modeling and testing)- knowledge of Aeronautical standard communication protocols and interfaces (i. e.
